The 3 Wheel Rollator Has Arrived

By Jennie Sandoval

Nobody ever wants to face getting old but it happens. When it does happen we have no choice but to face it head on. The issues that come about make life a little harder but that does not mean you still cannot enjoy what you have. Getting around easily is one thing that will help you do that, and to get around easier use a 3 wheel rollator.

For the most part their choices are to either stay in one place, have someone push you in a wheel chair, or use a standard walker to move about. All of these are difficult and have their drawbacks. Of course staying put is not always possible. If you have things that need doing and you are the only one around you cannot very will sit still for very long.

On the other side of the coin you have the loved ones who are older and cannot move around so well anymore. Our seniors today are a bit more independent than they used to be. Even so, most of them are used to seeing their friends use a walker. They might be surprised to see a 3 wheel rollator.

The standard walker is not that easy to move around either. Typically people will put tennis balls on the feet to help them slide better of smooth floors. However the 3 wheel rollator has wheels which make it so much easier to get around with. Some people might be a little scared about using one because of the wheels but rest assured they are safe and very easy to control.

In addition to the added benefit of space to carry things, the wheeled design helps to make it much more mobile because it is not hampered by feet that do not move and get stuck on everything. The wheels give the user the ability to slide it no matter what surface it is being used on. If moving too fast is a concern there is no need to worry, they come with a handbrake to help slow down or stop.

In addition to just gaining mobility, these are really adaptable to any situation. Various wheel sizes are available as are various brake types. All the brakes are also very customizable for people who might not have the proper hand strength for standard brakes. They can also be added to both handles to give people even more control.

These are also usually covered by insurance and medicare. Because people can generally show a need for such devices they are covered. If not, they are sold by both regular drug stores and medical supply stores alike. These are great for people who use oxygen too because the basket doubles as a place to hold the tank. This is a great advantage over wheel chairs because they generally do not have such a space.

Cost is always a concern for seniors as well. While these can sometimes be a bit expensive your insurance may cover the cost if you can show a direct need for one. A 3 wheel rollator is a great gift for a parent or grandparent who is still active. Even if your loved on is no longer active, maybe one of these would help them get active.
