When this happens, the person can die instantly but there are also others who have survived but they need to have constant air supply for them to continue breathing.

Because of portable oxygen tank, it is easier for a person to go anywhere and do some of the things that normal people do. In some cases, they can make do without the tanks for a while but there are others who have made it a part of their system.

There are two types of portable tanks. Depending on your what you need, you can choose either of the two or you can use both. The first one is the tank with the continuous flow. This will provide the body air even if you are inhaling or not. The other one is incorporated with the pulse flow mechanics which allows the user to manipulate the air supply through the inhalation process.

Tanks that have the pulse flow mechanism are installed with a conserver. Conservers have the capacity to regulate the oxygen that is given to the body so that no air would be wasted. But there are times when those who are using the pulse flow device also needs to use the continuous flow especially when sleeping. The breathing when you are asleep is shallow and it might not be enough to trigger the pulse flow in the oxygen tank.

Even if you have a portable tank with you, there are still restrictions to the things that you can do. You can have the the privilege of traveling but you still need to know if your body can take the travel. It can be a risky move which is why you need to check in with your physician first.

Having a portable tank with you can be a huge advantage when you want to travel. You should ask advice from the doctor first before you decide to go on a vacation because it might no be safe for you. If you are allowed to travel, you must not forget to bring important documents with you, that is documents other than your travel papers.

You need to secure a document for your portable tank. You can ask for a statement of purchase from where you brought it. To save you the hassle, you can use the receipt that you have.

You will be bringing a handful of documents with you so be sure to have a room in the luggage where you can put it in an organized manner. Always have important phone numbers at the ready. The contact information of your physician should always be in speed dial. You should also bring more than one identification card.

Other things that would surely consume space other than your papers and your clothes are your medications. Be sure to have extra for each one. You never know if you will be delayed or not. Prior to traveling, ask for a written statement from your doctor so that you will be allowed to use your oxygen tank inside the plane.
