Hha Training In The Bronx

By Estelle Larsen

Being a home health aide or simply HHA is quite a tough job but it is a very satisfying one because it deals with helping the elderly who have illnesses. Now if one would want to find a place in America where there are a lot of centers for the aged, then he may want to visit the bronx. It is for this reason that receiving hha training in the bronx is advantageous because of the high number of centers there.

Of course when he would first begin this program, he will be given a slight introduction on how the job is going to be. First, he will be learning about how elderly patients are different from regular patients. They will be learning the ways on how to act when they are inside the center and with the patients.

Now one very important part of the introduction would be learning how to keep the place clean. A clean environment is something that elderly people need because if their area is not clean, then they may be vulnerable to bacteria and germs. It is for this reason that in the introduction part, the aides will be learning how to keep the place clean.

After learning how to sanitize the entire place, the aides will then be taught how to do the primary routine checks on the patients. They will first be learning how to check the pulse, temperature, blood pressure, and respiration rates of the patients. Of course they will also have to learn how to help the patient in everyday routines like bathing and dressing up.

Now aides are also required to learn basic massage techniques in order to massage the patients who have strained muscles or aching limb. Now do take note that there is a special way to massage these people because their muscles are not very strong and they need a little bit of care. They are also going to be trained to help the elderly do some simple cardio exercises.

After that, things will get a little bit harder for the aides because they will now be learning more about how to use equipment. They now have to learn to handle some medical equipment because they will be using a lot of that while they are there. They will be helping the elderly make use of these medical equipment such as ventilators, IV, or other types of equipment that the center has.

Of course the aides will also have to learn the basics of life saving techniques and first aid. There are going to be times when a patient might fall down by accident or have shortness of breath which means that the aides always have to be ready. Now they would also be learning about the different diet requirements of each patient to know what to serve.

So for those who are interesting in becoming a home health aide, these are some of the things that they will be learning. Now one very important thing to take note of is that there is actually an exam that they must pass first. Once they already pass that exam, they will get a certificate. Without that certification, they will most likely not get accepted in any center.
