"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. " | Socrates
One of the best most challenging journeys you'll ever go on is seeing what your body is able to do. Maybe you are in shape, totally out of shape, or simply hoping to lose some weight. However, developing a body that you can be proud, one that is healthy, and lets you truly adore every last piece of it actually is an amazing journey to travel down.
So what's the key to making an enduring change with your body?
Consistency and commitment.
There's nothing else like coming to the table every single day and giving it your best shot. Your best effort must be yours and yours alone. Don't start comparing your journey to other journeys or else you may become unmotivated and discouraged. Instead, really try and understand you are contesting with yourself and yourself alone. Will there be times on your journey where you try and fail? Yes, many times. But each time you do, you need to come back with a commitment to achieving something you've always strongly want. Consistency will keep you in the game and on the field each and every day. Without it, you will suffer the the inescapable and bad reality of many new years resolutioners who give up each and every single year on making the body of their dreams because they are missing the personal power to keep on coming back again and againand again.
Commitment also suggests itself, but not the commitment that you're possibly thinking of. In our world, we are fed this strong idea that everything must take place right now and if it does not actually happen now, it's not worthwhile. Your body is going to really change throughoutthe years, so why don't you make a real lifelong promise to keeping healthy? Is that a marketable and marketable idea? Not particularly. But is it something that would really change the course of your life? Totally.
When you make a promise to keeping your body healthy all throughout your entire life, you may at last reach whatever goal you wish. It is about seeing the big picture than just the few months in front of you till summer. It is about developing something that you can be happy with for all the years to come. For me, that new concept changed my life as I was able to finally hit my fitness goals after 12 years of fighting with my self-image and food issues. But as soon as I modified my world view of what I was attempting to attain, everything I had wished for came to me. So try it on for size and see if it might work for you. Make a lifetime dedication to remaining healthy and watch how much your body will change in the short term as well.
Bring some commitment and consistency to the table, in all facets of your life, and things will change radically.
